There is no such insurance in the UK. General Liability in the UK is covered by Public Liability and Product Liability insurances, which we carry.

Do you work on the seacoast?

Yes, we work on coastal and inland projects, in the areas stated above.

How long does it take to get an estimate?

It depends on the size of the project, but we will always get quotes out as soon as reasonably practical. Written estimates are provided for all work.

Who will be coming out to give the estimate?

The MD and/or the technical director.

How long is an estimate good for?

Generally we hold prices for 30 days to 90 days, depending on the size of the project and the market volatility.

Do you offer financing?

No, we do not offer financing.

Can I get a drawing of the project?

Yes, 2D and/or 3D drawings provided as part of project engineering design phase, as well as as-builts at the end.

What are your credentials?

The Managing Director has a B.Tech in Project Management, as well as a Project Manager’s qualification in NEC4, and has advanced NEC skills and decades doing contracts management.

The technical director has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and MSc in Materials and Process Engineering, and has spent decades designing and installing process equipment.

How do you handle the dirty work ?

We handle the dirty work by maintaining strict housekeeping practices, ensuring a safe and organized work environment. Regular cleanup throughout the day prevents hazards, while proper waste disposal ensures that materials, including hazardous waste, are managed correctly. Keeping tools and machinery clean and in good working order reduces the risk of malfunctions. Effective dust suppression and immediate spill cleanup help prevent accidents. Organizing and storing materials safely avoids clutter and obstructions, improving efficiency. By prioritizing cleanliness and order, we enhance site safety, reduce downtime, and ensure high-quality work.

How do you handle over runs ?

We handle overruns by maintaining strong project management and proactive decision-making to minimize delays and cost impacts. Clear planning and risk assessment help anticipate potential issues before they arise. Regular progress tracking allows us to identify problems early and implement corrective measures. Open communication with stakeholders ensures transparency, so adjustments can be made efficiently. Resource management, including labor, materials, and equipment, is optimized to prevent bottlenecks. When overruns occur, contingency plans are put into action to mitigate their effects while keeping quality and safety standards intact. By staying adaptable and focused, we ensure projects remain on track and deliver the best possible outcomes.

Do you use sub-contractors?

Yes, we use subcontractors, but only after a rigorous pre-qualification process to ensure quality, safety, and reliability. This process also guarantees that Health and Safety standards remain high, as we assess subcontractors’ compliance with industry regulations and their track record in maintaining safe working environments. By thoroughly vetting each subcontractor, we ensure that only skilled and responsible professionals contribute to our projects. Let me know if you’d like further refinement.

Do you have pictures of previous jobs?

Yes, you can view our Photo Galleries on our website and on our LinkedIn page.

Will you bring samples to an appointment?

Not applicable.

Can I pull a building permit myself?

Not applicable.

How far do you travel for jobs?

See answer to “What is your service area” above.

What about payment ?

We structure payments using fair and transparent milestones that align with industry best practices. This approach ensures that both we and the customer have financial clarity and security throughout the project. Milestones are set at key stages of progress, reflecting completed work and value delivered, while protecting both parties’ interests.

What about contracts and orders ?

We use both contracts and purchase orders, ensuring that each is appropriately applied to the scope of work. Contracts are used for on-site work, setting clear terms for responsibilities, timelines, and standards. Purchase orders are typically reserved for supply-only transactions, providing a structured approach to procurement. We tailor contracts to the correct level, aligning them with the size and complexity of the work

What about lead paint ?

Not applicable.

Are you licensed?

Not applicable.

How much should I plan for over runs?

The extent of overruns depends on how thoroughly the scope, schedule, and budget have been prepared. For projects with detailed scope definitions, clear timelines, and estimates are based on actual quotes, plan for about 10% over-run. If estimates are based on those derived from past experience or general assumptions, plan for larger over-runs proportionate to the level of uncertainty, up to 30%.

What questions should I ask a potential contractor ?

Ask about their experience on similar projects, then delve into specifics such as challenges they faced and how they met deadlines. Present a scenario relevant to your work and ask how they would complete it safely and correctly, assessing their attitude towards Health and Safety, problem-solving skills and technical approach. Since due diligence, such as insurance and regulatory compliance, is covered in the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ), there’s no need to repeat those questions.

Does every remodeling job need a permit?

Not applicable.

What is difference between big box stores and remodelers?

Not applicable.

Why is it when I get three different estimates that the prices are so different?

Price differences in estimates often come down to two key factors: the level of detail in the project scope and the approach taken by different contractors. When the scope isn’t definitive enough, contractors interpret requirements differently, leading to variations in pricing. Some will quote only the bare minimum to secure the job, excluding necessary costs that may arise later. Others, particularly highly competent contractors, provide comprehensive quotes, factoring in all aspects of the work to avoid surprises. And then, of course, there are contractors who are simply greedy.

Do you need insurance to pull a permit ?

Not applicable.

What if I need to get in touch with you while my project is in progress (or after hours) ?

A project manager is fully committed—”married” to the project—ensuring seamless communication at all times. Whether the project is in progress, whether it’s after hours, or even after completion and full operation, they remain available to support you, address any needs, questions, or unforeseen issues. Their dedication guarantees that support is never out of reach.

Are liens out on a project while work is in progress ?

While work is in progress, liens may be involved depending on contractual agreements and payment terms. In our case, we have back-to-back liens with our subcontractors, meaning that if they place a lien on materials or equipment supplied and/installed for us on a project, we will place a lien in turn on the client. This ensures that financial obligations are properly managed, protecting all parties involved. By structuring agreements this way, we maintain fairness and accountability throughout the project.
